AN ORDINANCE OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CITY
COUNCIL AMENDING SUBSECTION (g) OF SECTIONS
20.30.040 AND 20.32.070 OF THE SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED TO
CONDITIONALLY PERMITTED LAND USES IN THE M-1
AND PI ZONING DISTRICTS
The City Council of the City of South San Francisco does
ordain as follows:
SRCTION ~. Subsection (g) of Section 20.30.040 of the
South San Francisco Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as
follows:
(g) A use permit shall be required for any industrial or
manufacturing use which, in the opinion of the Chief Planner, after
consultation with the Fire Chief and Chief Building Official, may
be objectionable by reason of production of offensive odor, dust,
bright lights, or vibration or involves the storage or handling of
explosive or hazardous materials in amounts equal to or in excess
of "exempt amounts" identified in Tables 9-A, 9-A.1, 9B, and 9F of
the 1991 Uniform Building Code (including the 1993 Supplement) as
those Tables may be amended or readopted as subSequent building
codes or in Tables 79.202-A, 4.108-C, 80.303-A, 80.308-A, 80-309-A,
80-312-A, 80-313-A, 80-314-A, $0.315-A and 80-402-B of the 1991
Uniform Fire Code (including the 1993 Supplement) as those tables
may be amended or readopted as subsequent fire codes. This section
shall not be interpreted to permit or conditionally permit any land
use involving the permanent storage or disposal of explosive or
hazardous materials, nor shall any land use approval issued
pursuant to this section authorize the applicant to accept for
disposal or storage any explosive or hazardous materials from any
off-site source other than materials to be used in the normal
course of the applicant's business. Permanent storage is defined
as storage of any individual explosive or hazardous material
regulated herein for more than five (5) years.

SECTION 3:
8EVERABILITY.
In the event any section or portion of this ordinance shall be
determined invalid or unconstitutional, such section or portion
shall be deemed severable and all other sections or portions hereof
shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 4=
PUBLICATION/~ND EFFECTIVE DATE.
This ordinance shall be published once, with the names of
those City Councilmembers voting for or against it, in the
Enterprise Journal, a newspaper of general circulation in the City
of South San Francisco, as required by law, and shall become
effective thirty (30) days from and after its adoption.
