CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Approval of the Regular Meeting Minutes for July 5, 2023
Approved by BPAC 5-0-0: Committee Member McAuley motioned, Committee Member Gore
Seconded. Committee Member Hollenback was absent during roll call.
Chair Guzman – As Amended with changes to comment in Administrative Business.

2. Police Report – Statistics of Accidents in SSF (Traffic Commander, Lieutenant Tony
Pinell)
• Chair Guzman – Asked Lieutenant Pinell if there’s anything BPAC can do to make the programs run
smoothly.
• Committee Member Gore – Commented on the high percentage of vehicle/bicycle caused accidents;
shocked on the number of accidents. Would like the signs to be more visible.
• Committee Member McAuley – Would like to see more enforcement on E-Bikes.
• Vice-Chair Yip – Mentioned Vision Zero.
• Committee Member Bowen – Would like to know where the hot spots are for accidents in SSF and
where people are choosing to walk and bike and why.
• Chair Guzman – Mentioned talk about Centennial Trail being dangerous.
o Lieutenant Pinell – Replied he has not heard of this and there are cameras up now.
• Committee Member Bowen – Would like to see SSF work with companies like Google to improve the
safety of this City by tracking cell phone data.
• Vice-Chair Yip – Wanted to know where people are sent to after critical accidents and if this data is
tracked.
o Lieutenant Pinell – Replied trauma accidents are sent to SF General and non-trauma
accidents are sent to Kaiser. This data is tracked up to a certain percentage.
• Committee Member Gore – Mentioned most accidents are happening East of El Camino Real.
o Lieutenant Pinell – Replied this area is denser and having more bicycle lanes would benefit
this area.

• Vice-Chair Yip – Thanked Lieutenant Pinell for coming and presenting.
• Chair Guzman – Mentioned a news article in SF where the bike lanes are in the center of the street.

3. Complete Streets Leadership Academy - Update (Chris Espiritu, Senior Transportation Planner)
• Secretary Espiritu –
• Shared the Facts Sheet from July; installation started July 20th/21st 2023.
• This event officially launches Wednesday August 16th, 2023 from 10:00am to 10:45am in the See’s
Candies parking lot.
• Clerk Evans –
• Shared website links with the committee for Complete Streets on Planning Division’s webpages.
• Shared recruitment updates for the current vacancy.
