CALL TO ORDER Mayor Nicolas called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m.

Colors were honorably and duly posted by members of the South San Francisco Honor Guard.

Introduction of Elected Officials in attendance
Mayor Nicolas introduced the elected officials and representatives that were in attendance. A
moment of silence was held to honor the passing of San Mateo County Supervisor Don Horsley.
1. Mayor Declares the Purpose of the Meeting: Reorganization of the City Council
Mayor Nicolas declared the purpose of the meeting which is the reorganization of the City Council.
2. Advanced Performance Dancers of El Camino High School.
Advanced Performance Dancers of El Camino performed.
3. Presentation to Outgoing Mayor and Outgoing Mayor Remarks.
The Council read a proclamation into the record and presented it to Mayor Nicolas. Vice Mayor
Nagales stated a donation would be made on behalf of the Council to the holiday toy drive in her
name. Mayor Nicolas thanked the Council and provided outgoing remarks.
4. Reorganization of the City Council:
Assistant City Attorney Lai provided an overview of the City Council Handbook, which indicates the
process of selecting a Vice Mayor and Mayor as noted by the updates approved at the Regular
Meeting City Council Meeting of November 8, 2023.
a. Nominations for Mayor
Appointment: Honorable James Coleman was appointed as Mayor.
Oath: Mayor Coleman was Sworn in by Honorable State Senator Josh Becker.
Incoming Remarks: Mayor Coleman provided incoming remarks.
Motion — Vice Mayor Nagales/ Second - Councilmember Flores: To nominate and appoint
Honorable James Coleman to serve as Mayor of the City of South San Francisco, by roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Addiego, Coleman and Flores, Vice Mayor Nagales, and Mayor Nicolas;
NAYS: None; ABSENT: None; ABSTAIN: None
b. Nominations for Vice Mayor
Appointment: Honorable Eddie Flores was appointed as Vice Mayor.
Oath: Vice Mayor Flores was Sworn in by Honorable San Mateo County Sheriff
Christina Corpus.
Incoming Remarks: Vice Mayor Flores provided incoming remarks.
Motion - Councilmember Addiego/ Second - Councilmember Nicolas: To nominate and appoint
Honorable Eddie Flores to serve as Vice Mayor of the City of South San Francisco, by roll call
vote: AYES: Councilmembers Addiego, Coleman and Flores, Vice Mayor Nagales, and Mayor
Coleman; NAYS: None; ABSENT: None; ABSTAIN: None
Outgoing Vice Mayor Nagales delivered outgoing remarks.
5. Performance by Lilac
ADJOURNMENT
Being no further business Mayor Coleman adjourned the meeting at 8:09 p.m.
