CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.78
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING
CONFERENCE CENTER AUTHORITY COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, California Government Code Section 37506 authorizes cities to adopt
ordinances appointing a commission to promote, manage and maintain a public assembly
or convention hall; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to California Government Code Section 37506, South San
Francisco Mdnicipal Code Chapter 2.78 provides for the appointment of a commission to
manage and Operate the South San Francisco Conference Center; and
WHEREAS, the commission recommends certain changes in its composition to
enable it to better carry out its charge;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANClSCOI DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1' Amendments to Section 2.78.030 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code
Section 2.78.03, subsection (c) and subsection (d) of the South San Francisco
Municipal Code are hereby amended as follows:
"(c) :The make-up of the commission shall be as follows:

Two councilmembers of the city; and
Two representatives from hotels located within the city limits of South
San Francisco; and
Five representatives from either of the following categories:
City residents 18 years or older or representatives of businesses
located in South San Francisco; and
The City Manager, who shall serve as an ex-officio, non-voting
member of the commission. The City Manager or his or her designee
shall be required to attend all commission meetings.
The Executive Director of the South San Francisco Chamber of
Commerce, who shall serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member of
the commission.
(d)
The Mayor, with the confirmation of the City Council, shall appoint the
Councilmembers. Non-hotel representatives of the Conference Center shall
be appointed by the City Council. The hotel representatives shall be
recommended by the South San Francisco Hotel Group and appointed by
the City Council."
Section 2: Severability
In the event any section or portion of this ordinance shall be determined invalid or
unconstitutional, such section or portion shall be deemed severable and all other sections
or portions hereof shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 3: pUblication and Effective Date
This iordinance shall be published once, with the names of those City
Councilmembers voting for or against it, in the San Mateo Times, a newspaper of general
circulation in the City of South San Francisco, as required by law, and shall become
effective thiMy (30) days from and after its adoption.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco, held the 2?th day of Ju~e ,2001.
Adopted as an Ordinance of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting
of the City COuncil held the 11th dayof july ,2001 by the following
vote:

Councilmembers Pedro Gonzalez, Karyl Matsumoto and John R. Penna
Mayor Pro Tern Eugene R. Mullin and Mayor Joseph A. Fernekes
NOES: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
ABSENT: None.
