A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISC~,~TO VACATE PORTION
OF RIGHT-OF-WAY KNOWN AS CALIFORNIA AVENUE, LOCATED
EAST OF BAYSHORE FREEWAY
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco, California, as follows:
1. This Resolution is adopted pursuant to the Street
Vacation Act of 1941.
2. Notice is hereby given that Monday, the day
of , 19 , at 8 P.M. in the Council Chamber,
City Hall, South San Francisco, is hereby fixed as the time
and place when and where all persons interested in, or having
objections to the vacation of a portion of the right-of-way
known as California Avenue, located East of Bayshore Freeway
as hereinafter described, may appear before said Council and
be heard.
3. A copy of this Resolution shall be published once
in the Enterprise-Journal, a newspaper of general circulation
printed and published in said City in the manner prescribed
by law for publishing ordinances in said City.
4. The public interest and convenience require, and
it is the intention of this Council to vacate a portion of
right-of-way known as California Avenue, located East of
Bayshore Freeway, described as follows: Beginning at the.
northeasterly corner of California Avenue and Division Street
(now known as Dubuque Avenue) as said S~eet and Avenue appear
on the map entitled "South San Francisco, San Mateo Co., Cal.
Plat No. 1", which map was filed in the office of the Recorder
of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on March 1, 1892,
in Book "B" of Maps at page 6 and a copy entered in Book 2
of Maps at page 52, said point of beginning also being the
most westerly corner of that certain 10.44 acre tract of land
conveyed by South San Francisco Land and Improvement Company
to Enterprise Foundry Company by Deed recorded July 15, 1918
in Book 269 of Deeds at page 462, records of said San Mateo
County, and running thence along the southwesterly line of
said 10.44 acre tract of land S 74° 27' E 58.26 feet; thence
S 67° 45' 10" E 339.80 feet to a 3/4" iron pipe monument set
in the northwesterly line of that certain 1OO foot strip of
land containing 8.04 acres of land and conveyed by South San
Francisco Land and Improvement Company to Southern Pacific
Company by Deed recorded March 21, 1895 in Book 68 of Deeds
at page 426; thence along the northwesterly line of said 8.04
acre tract of land S 37° 32' 40" W 62.20 feet to a 3/4" iron
pipe monument; thence along the northeasterly line of that
certain 5.15 acre tract of land secondly described in the Deed
from South San Francisco Land and Improvement Company to
Southern Pacific Railroad Company recorded March 21, 1895 in
Book 68 of Deeds at page 426 and along the southwesterly line
of that certain 7.67 acre tract of land secondly described in
the Deed to South San Francisco Land and Improvement Company
from Southern Pacific Railroad Company recorded April 29, 1901
in Book 89 of Deeds at page 99 N 67° 45' 10" W 319.88 feet to
a 3/4" iron pipe monument; thence N 74° 27' W 61.79 feet to
a 3/4"~iron pipe monument set in the southeasterly line of
Division Street (now known as Dubuque Avenue) as shown upon
said map entitled "South San Francisco, San Mateo Co., Cal.
Plat No.l"; thence along said southeasterly line of Division
Street (now known as Dubuque Avenue) N 22° 14' 50" E 60.41 feet
to the point of beginning and containing 0.537 acres of land
more or less.
and does expressly reserve a lO-foot wide storm sewer easement
lying equally five feet on each side of the following described
centerline:
Beginning at a point on the Easterly line of Division
Street (now known as Dubuque Avenue) South 22° 14' 50" West
51.20 feet from the point of intersection of said Easterly
line of Division Street with the Northerly line of California
Avenue produced Easterly, running thence South 75° 48' 54"
East 402.7 feet more or less to a.point on the Westerly line
of the right of way of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company,
said point being distant South 37° 32' 40" West 1.8 feet from
the Southeasterly corner of that certain 10.44 acre tract of
land conveyed by South San Francisco Land and Improvement Com-
pany to Enterprise Foundry Company by Deed recorded July 15,
1918, in Book 269 of Deeds at page 462, records of said San
Mateo County.
5. Notices of the vacation of said right of way.shall
be posted conspicuously along the line of the portion proposed
to be vacated at least ten (10) days before the date set for
the hearing. Such notices shall be posted not more than 300
feet apart, but not less than three shall be posted.
