A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFI-
CATIONS AUTHORIZING THE WORK AND CALLINGFOR BIDS
ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF CITY HALL PARKING LOT
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco, California, that
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has submitted
plans and specifications for the improvement of City Hall
Parking Lot entitled "Rearran~emenb and Improvemenb --
Cit~ Hall Parking Lot -- 1963
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve said plans
and specifications, authorize the work and call for sealed
proposals.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that
1. The plans and specifications for the improvement
of City Hall Parking Lot entitled "Rearrangement and
Imorovement -- Clt~ Hall Parkln~ Lot -- 1963
are hereby approved and the work therein provided is hereby
authorized, said plans and specifications are referred to
and by this reference made a part hereof the same as if re-
cited herein verbetim.
2. The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to
publish by two (2) consecutive insertions in the Enterprise-
Journal, a newspaper published and circulated in said City,
a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for said improve-
ment and referring to the plans and specifications on file
3. Bids will be received by the City of South San
Francisco, California, at the office of the City Manager
of said City, City Hall, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco,
California, at or before the hour of 10:OO a.m. on
~.Monday , the 16bh day of December ,
19 6~, said time not being less than ten (10) days from
the first publication of notice, the bids will be publicly
opened, examined and declared at said time and place and
award will thereafter be made by the City Council of said
City to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders, subject,
however, to the right of said City Council to reject any
and all bids, which right is hereby reserved.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco at a regular
meeting held on the lSth day of November
19 63 , by the following vote:

in the office of the City Clerk, the first of which pub-
lication shall be at least ten (10) days prior to the
time fixed for opening bids. A copy of said notice en-
titled "Notice to Bidders" is attached hereto and referred
to and by this reference made a part hereof as if set forth
verbatim herein.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a
cashier's, or certified, check payable to the order of the
City of South San Francisco, in an amount equal to not
less than ten per cent (10%) of the bid figure, or by a bond
in said amount drawn in favor of said City and executed by
a corporate surety. Said check shall be forfeited by bidder,
or said bond shall become payable to said City in case the
lowest responsible bidder (or bidders) depositing the same
does not, within the time set forth in said plans and
specifications, enter into a contract within said City, the
faithful performance of which sbmll be guaranteed by an
undertaking in the amount of one hundred per cent (1OO%) of
the sum bid, said undertaking being that of a corporate
surety satisfactory to said City Council, and which contract
shall be accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a cor-
porate surety, also in a sum equal to one hundred per cent
(1OO%) of the amount of said bid, as required by the pro-
visions of Title I, Division 5, Chapter 3, of the Government
Code of the State of California. In case of a forfeiture,
as provided for in the preceding sentence, the defaulting
bidder shall be liable to said City for any additional ex-
pense to which it may reasonably be put in connection with
obtaining full and complete performance of the particular
work of improvement with which this Notice to Bidders is con-
cerned.

NOTICE CALLING FOR BIDS FOR THE FURNISHING OF
MATERIALS FOR, AND THE PERFORMANCE OF, CERTAIN
PUBLIC WORK AND IMPROVEMENT IN THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, TO-WIT, RE;~RR~.NGEMEI'rT AIfD
IMPROVE~iENT - CITY HALL PARKING
NOTICE IS t~REBY GIVEN that sealed bids for the furnishing
of materials for, and the performance of, the public work herein-
after described will be received by the City of South San Francisco,
California, at the office of the City Manager of said city, City
Hall, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California, at or before
the hour of 10:00 o'clock a. m., on Monday ,
the 1Bth day of December 1963, said time being
not less than ten (10) days from the first publication of this
notice. All bids will be publicly op~ned, examined and declared at
said time and place. Award of contract will thereafter be made by
the City Council of said city to the lowest responsible bidder or
bidders, subject, however, to the right of said City Council to re-
ject any and all bids, which right is hereby reserved.
The work hereinbefore referred to consists of the following:
ALTERNATE "A" - Using Double Seal Coat; Grading, Furnishing and
Installing Concrete Curb, Redwood Headerboard,
Striping (Painting) Etc.
_;:LTERNATE "B" - Same as ~:~lternate "A" except Substitutin~ Asphalt
Concrete Pavin~ for Double Seal Coat.
Said work shall include the furnishing and supplying of all
necessary labor and materials.
It i~ requested that all bids be submitted on both a unit and
group basis because said city reserves the right to make award of
contract on either a unit or group basis.
All said work is to be done at the places and in the particular
locations, and in accordance with the forms, sizes, dimensions, and
materials and to the lines and grades, and in conformance to the pro-
files, detailed drawings, and specifications therefor which have
heretofore been approved and adopted by said City Council and which
are presently on file in the office of the City Clerk of said city.
Reference is hereby made to said plans, profiles, detailed drawings,
and specifications for further particulars, copies of which may be
procured from said City Clerk upon the making of a deposit of
FIVE DOLLARS ($ 5.00 ) per set, of which sum FIVE
DOLLARS ($ 5.00 ) will be refunded upon the return of said plans
and specifications in good condition witl.tniEVENTY-TWO (72) HOURS
after the bid date.

Division 5, Chapter 3, of the Government Code of the State of
California. In case of a forfeiture, as provided for in the pre-
ceding sentnece, the defaulting bidder shall be liable to said City
for any additional expense to which it may reasonably be put in
connection with obtaining full and complete performance of the
particular work of improvement with which this Notice to Bidders
is concerned.
NOTICE IS HEREBY fllVEN that the City Council of said City has
heretofore established the prevailing wage scale for per diem rates
to be paid to all craftsmen and laborers in connection with the work
to be done pursuant to said plans and specifications, to which
reference is hereby made for a full and detailed description thereof.
