The Business License Tax (BLT) Measure updates the
City’s existing business tax with a progressive
structure largely based on the number of
employees. If approved by voters, it would result in
smaller businesses paying a nominal increase and
larger businesses paying a more significant
increase. The measure was approved unanimously
by the South San Francisco City Council on July 24,
2024, and it will appear in your November 2024
ballot as Measure W.*
HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE
NEW BLT?
*Measure W referenced here is Measure W – Business License Tax Measure, which will be
on the November 2024 ballot. This is different from Measure W - a local sales tax that was
approved by South San Francisco voters in November 2015.
