HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 18-2008 RESOLUTION NO. 18-2008 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WHEREAS, elnergency response to critical incidents, whether natural or nlal1nlade, requires integrated professional nlanagenlent, and WHEREAS, unified COnl111and of such il1cidents is recognized as the nlanagenlent lnodel to Inaxilnize the public safety response, and WHEREAS, the National Incident Managenlent Systenl ("NIMS"), has been identified by the Federal GovenUllent as being the requisite eInergency nlanagenlent systeln for all political subdivisions, and WHEREAS, failure to adopt NIMS as the requisite elnergency nlanagenlent systeln Inay preclude reilnburseInent to the political subdivision for costs expended during and after a declared elnergency or disaster and for training and preparation for such disasters or enlergencles. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby: 1. Adopts the NIMS concept of elnergency plmuling and unified cOlnlnand. 2. Supports the policy of providing NIMS training to public officials responsible for elnergency lnanagenlent. * * * * * I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular 111eeting held on the 13th day of February, 2008 by the following vote: AYES: Councihnenlbers Mark N.
