ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners: Fernandez (6:31 p.m.), Foley, Huerta, Luster (6:38 p.m.), Maharaj (6:34 p.m.), Palomino, Pomposo, Ramos, Sanchez Absent: Commissioners: None Staff Present: Greg Mediati, Director of Parks and Recreation Angela Duldulao, Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation Erin O’Brien, Business Manager Ercie Santos, Cultural Arts Specialist Keren Solano, Administrative Assistant II III. AGENDA REVIEW: N/A IV. PUBLIC COMMENT: N/A V. PRESENTATIONS  October 2024 Art Show Presentation to Award Recipients  Specialist Santos announced the art show award recipients and gave a brief presentation on their artwork. She invited the artists that were present to participate in the February 2025 art show and advised that the art show guidelines should be available mid-December.  Artists Al-Qazwini, Barichievich, Chen, Lim, Rey, and Viana briefly thanked the Commission for the opportunity to participate in the art show.  Subcommittee Reports  Art Gallery Exhibits  Chair Pomposo shared there were 50 entries by 31 artists and eight received awards. Solo artist, Claudio Talavera-Ballon judged the art show and there were performances by the South San Francisco Recreation Folklorico classes. The virtual exhibit will be available through November 30.  Fundraising  No update.  Performing Arts  No Update.  Public Art  No update.  Strategic Vision Cultural Arts Commission Minutes of October 22, 2024 Page 2  Commissioner Fernandez announced the subcommittee met and their next meeting will be with City staff to review the 2025 Annual Work Plan.  Youth Art Programs  Specialist Santos announced that the South San Francisco Unified School District liaison is working on scheduling a meeting for the committee; the subcommittee co-chairs will be notified once a date is selected. VI. MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION 5. Motion to approve the minutes of September 24, 2024  Motion: Commissioner Foley  Second: Commissioner Maharaj  Roll Call Vote Results | Minutes for September 24 stand as sent. (AYES: Fernandez, Foley, Huerta, Luster, Maharaj, Palomino, Pomposo, Ramos, Sanchez) VII. ITEMS FROM COMMISSIONERS:  Chair Pomposo shared the following suggestions presented to her by former Commissioner DeNatale:  Art Walk: The City of Vallejo has this event that features local art and live music.  Suggestion to reference the Garden of Surging Waves in Astoria, Oregon.  Sidewalk Joy Kiosks  A future update on mural project budget  Commissioner Fernandez requested to revisit and add the Cultural Activities Grant remaining balance to an upcoming meeting agenda.  Commissioner Huerta shared she enjoyed the Indigenous People’s Day event at Oyster Point hosted by Rise South City and hopes to have more artwork throughout the City that is representative of the Indigenous community in South San Francisco. VIII. ITEMS FROM STAFF  Specialist Santos announced the following:  Holiday Boutique & Makers Fair on Saturday, November 2 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Biotech Speaker Series on November 15. Registration required.  Thanksgiving Fun Run & Oyster Point Phase II Dedication at 9:00 a.m. at Oyster Point.  Sign Hill Holiday Tree Lighting at LPR on December 2 at 5:00 p.m.  Santa Comes to Town at LPR on December 7 from 10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Improving Public Places (IPP) Holiday Wreath Workshop on December 14 at the Joseph Fernekes Building. Registration required.  Deputy Director Duldulao reminded the Commission that she sent out the invitation for upcoming events via email. She advised Commissioners to notify staff if they are interested in participating specifically in the Fun Run or Wreath Workshop. IX.
