HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 64-2002RESOLUTION NO.64-2002 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $208,000 FROM THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FIRST COMMISSION OF SAN MATEO COUNTY TO SUPPORT PROJECT READ'S LEARNING WHEELS PROJECT AND A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $402,600 FROM THE PENINSULA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT PROJECT READ'S COMPUTER LAB AND AMENDING THE 2002- 2003 OPERATING BUDGET (NO. 03-1) WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $208,000 from the Children and Families First Commission of San Mateo County to support Project Read's Learning Wheels Project and a grant in the amount of $42,600 from the Peninsula Community Foundation to support Project Read's Computer Lab; and WHEREAS, the $208,000 grant to support the Learning Wheels project represents two years of grand funding; and WHEREAS, the California Children and Families Commission anticipates that this program will be supported on an ongoing basis through the application and receipt of money from local Proposition 10 funding from the Children & Families First Commission of San Mateo County; and WHEREAS, the $42,600 grant from the Peninsula Community Foundation funds one year of Computer Lab services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco the City Council hereby authorizes the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $208,000 from the Children and Families First Commission of San Mateo County to support Project Read's Learning Wheels Project and a grant in the amount of $42,600 from the Peninsula Community Foundation to support Project Read's Computer Lab and amends the 2002-2003 Operating Budget (03-1) to add $250,600 to the Library Department's budget. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the l0th day of July 2002 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Raymond L.
