HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-10-24 Joint Special Meeting of the Parking Place Commission and Traffic Safety CommissionCALL TO ORDER: ROLL CALL: Present: Absent: City Staff: REGULAR MEETING MINUTES December 10, 2024 CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO JOINT SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PARKING PLACE COMMISSION AND TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION The meeting was called to order at 5:08 p.m. by PPC Chairperson Abarca and TSC Chairperson Monzon Dana Abarca, PPC Chairperson & TSC Commissioner Brandon Chan, PPC Vice Chairperson & TSC Commissioner (arrived at 5:10 p.m.) Hermes Monzon, PPC Commissioner & TSC Chairperson (arrived at 5:19 p.m.) Justin Yuen, TSC Vice Chairperson (arrived at 5:10 p.m.) David Carbone, TSC Commissioner Marissa Garren, Secretary to the Traffic Safety Commission Diana Wang, Clerk to the Traffic Safety Commission AGENDA REVIEW: No changes. PUBLIC COMMENT: None CONSENT CALENDAR: 1. Approval of the Parking Place Commission Meeting Minutes for November 12, 2024. Motion PPC Vice Chairperson Chan I Second PPC Chairperson Abarca - to approve the November 12, 2024 meeting minutes. Approved by voice vote (2- 0-0). 2. Approval of the Traffic Safety Commission Meeting Minutes for November 12, 2024. Motion TSC Commissioner Carbone / Second TSC Vice Chairperson Yuen -to approve the November 12, 2024 meeting minutes. Approved by voice vote (4-0-0). ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS: None. ITEMS FROM THE COMMISSION: • TSC Commissioner Carbone requested a briefing of the Traffic Safety Improvement projects for next year to which Secretary Garren responded we will go over the projects in January 2025. • TSC Commissioner Carbone reminded staff that he will not be attending the Traffic Safety Commission meeting in March 2025 as he will be out of town . • PPC Vice Chair and TSC Commissioner Chan requested that his email list be included in the upcoming agenda items in 2025 for discussion , as part of brainstorming for their memo to City Council. ITEMS FROM THE STAFF: 1. Parking Place Commission Presentation • PPC Chairperson and TSC Commissioner Abarca inquired about the meaning of PBID, to which PPC Vice Chairperson and TSC Commissioner Chan replied that it stands for Property Business Improvement District (PBID). • Staff and PPC Chairperson Abarca conducted a rehearsal of the presentation to City Council. • TSC Commissioner Carbone expressed concerns that City Council might inquire about the Parking District fund or Daylighting Law. Secretary Garren assured Commissioners that City staff will be available to address any questions. 2. Traffic Safety Commission Presentation • Staff and TSC Vice Chairperson Yuen conducted a rehearsal of the presentation to City Council. • Secretary Garren noted that a clicker will be provided to advance the slides during the presentation. • TSC Chairperson and PPC Commissioner Monzon inquired about the seating arrangements for the presentation , to which Secretary Garren suggested sitting on the right-hand side next to the podium, as the presentation will occur early on. • TSC Vice Chair Yuen inquired if the City Council presentation would be at 6:30 p.m., to which Secretary Garren confirmed that it will, and it will take place at the new Library Parks and Recreation . 3. Updates • PPC Commissioner and TSC Chairperson Monzon asked for an update on the bus shelters at Airport Boulevard. Secretary Garren responded that she would follow up with Samtrans. PPC Vice Chair and TSC Commissioner Chan mentioned that Samtrans holds a monthly public meeting and recommended attending to voice concerns about the bus shelters.
