HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 10-2002RESOLUTION NO. 10-~2002 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO REQUEST $500,000 IN HOME FUNDS FROM THE SAN MATEO COUNTY HOME CONSORTIUM FOR FUNDS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP ACT AND APPOINTING NORMA FRAGOSO, HOUSING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MANAGER AS THE CITY'S REPRESENTATIVE TO THE HOME PROJECT REVIEW COMMITYEE WHEREAS, the HOME Investment Partnership Act authorized by Congress in 1991 under National Affordable Housing Act provides a source of federal financing for a variety of affordable housing projects; and WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco is a participating jurisdiction in the San Mateo County HOME Consortium and is therefore eligible to apply for funding from the fiscal year 2002 HOME allocation; and WHEREAS, for fiscal year 2002, the San Mateo County HOME Consortium has $1,745,000 available for housing; and WHEREAS, it is recommended that the City Council authorize staff to request $500,000 in HOME funds from the San Mateo County Consortium and to appoint Norma Fragoso to the HOME Project Review Committee; and WHEREAS, if funded, a HOME allocation will help the City bring additional needed affordable housing to the downtown. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes staff to request $500,000 in HOME funds from the San Mateo County HOME Consortium for funds available through the HOME Investment Partnership Act and appoints Norma Fragoso, Housing and Economic Development Manager as the City's representative to the HOME Project Review Committee. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 27th day of February 2002 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Joseph A. Femekes, Raymond L. Green and Kar¥1 Matsumoto, Mayor Pro Tern Pedro Gonzalez and Mayor Eugene R. Mullin NOES: None. ABSTAIN: None. ABSENT: None. ATTEST:
