HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 48-2001RESOLUTION NO. 48-2001 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $4,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE PENINSULA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP AND $1,500 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE PHILANTHROPIC VENTURES FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT LIBRARY CHII.DREN'S AND LITERACY PROGRAMS AND AMENDING THE LIBRARY'S 2000-2001 OPERATING BUDGET (01-34) WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of $5,500 in revenue to support the South San Francisco Community Partnership's Community Health Initiative and Library children's and literacy programs; and WHEREAS, City Council has previously accepted $75,000 in funding from the Partnership for the Public's Health to support first year planning for this project and $15,215 from the San Mateo County Health Services Department to support a part time coordinator and to cover a portion of the door to door survey expenses; and WHEREAS, the additional $4,000 represents supplemental funds that will also cover a portion of the door to door survey; and WHEREAS, the $1,500 from the Philanthropic Ventures Foundation will supplement Library children's and literacy program budgets; and WHEREAS, grant funds received in fiscal year 2000-2001 will be used to amend the Library Department's current budget; and WHEREAS, grant cycles typically run for one year from time of receipt; therefore, funds not expended at the end of fiscal year 2000-2001 will be carded over into the next fiscal year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes the acceptance of $4,000 in grant funding from the Peninsula Community Foundation to support the South San Francisco Community Partnership and $1,500 in grant funding from the Philanthropic Ventures Foundation to support Library children's and literacy programs and amends the Library's 2000-2001 Operating Budget (No. 01-34). I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 13th day of June, 2001 by the following vote: AYES' Councilmembers Pedro Gonzalez, Karyl Matsumoto and John R.
