HomeMy WebLinkAbout3-11-25 Traffic Safety Commission Meeting Minutes FinalCALL TO ORDER: ROLL CALL: Present: Absent: City Staff: REGULAR MEETING MINUTES March 11, 2025 CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO REGULAR MEETING TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION The meeting was called to order at 5:46 p.m. by Chairperson Hermes Monzon. Hermes Monzon , Chairperson Brandon Chan, Commissioner Dana Abarca, Commissioner Justin Yuen , Vice Chairperson David Cabone, Commissioner Dave Bockhaus, Secretary to the Traffic Safety Commission Diana Wang , Clerk to the Traffic Safety Commission Alex Henry, Public Works Program Manager AGENDA REVIEW: No changes. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. CONSENT CALENDAR: 1. Approval of the Meeting Minutes of the Traffic Safety Commission for February 11, 2025. Motion Commissioner Chan I Second Commissioner Abarca -to approve the February 11 , 2025 meeting minutes as submitted. Approved by voice vote (3- 0-0). ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS : None. ITEMS FROM THE COMMISSION: None. ITEMS FROM THE STAFF: 1. February 2025 TAC 2502 City Engineer Memo • TAC 2502-04: Commissioner Chan inquired about updates since the last TAC minutes. Dave Bockhaus, Public Works Deputy Director, stated that the only update remains the plan to clean up signage, the same as last month. • TAC 2502-01 : Commissioner Chan thanked staff for addressing the request to add a "Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" sign. • Commissioner Chan asked for an update on the installation of three parking meters in front of the state building to which Dave Bockhaus, Public Works Deputy Director, responded that the work order has been issued and is pending due to weather conditions. • Chair Monzon inquired about the status of the bus stop shelter at Airport Boulevard to wh ich Dave Backhaus, Public Works Deputy Director, confirmed that the shelter is expected to arrive soon. SamTrans is coordinating with the Engineering Division on the design and encroachment permit. The shelter, originally at 150 South Airport Boulevard, will be relocated to 200 South Airport Boulevard as part of the Vision Zero Plan , which aims to position bus stops before intersections instead of after them. • Commissioner Chan requested an update on Lot 18. Dave Backhaus, Public Works Deputy Di rector suggested discussing this when Economic and Community Development (ECO) joins a future meeting to address downtown development. • Commissioner Chan asked if the Commission could attend a Property-Based Improvement District (PBID) meeting. Dave Backhaus, Public Works Deputy Director responded , the downtown businesses continue to meet but formal PBID formation has not yet occurred .
