HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 88-2001RESOLUTION NO. 88-2001 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO PREPARE A LETTER OF SUPPORT TO THE CITIZENS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Community College District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to present a $207 million general obligation bond measure to the County's voters in November 2001; and, WHEREAS, the Citizens For Higher Education campaign committee is seeking a resolution of support from the City Council; and, WHEREAS, $207 million in bonds will be used to improve the College of San Mateo, Canada College, and Skyline College; and, WHEREAS, all proceeds from the bond must be spent on capital improvements and equipment to improve the safety and quality of learning for district students. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes staff to prepare a letter of support to the Citizens For Higher Education. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, held on the 26th day of September, 2001, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Pedro Gonzalez, Karyl Matsumoto and John R. Penna, Mayor Pro Tem Eugene R. Mullin and Mayor Joseph A. Fernekes NOES: None. ABSTAIN: None. ABSENT: None. ATTEST: Ciiy C~rl~
