Saturday, August 24, 10:30 am Gardening: Planting for a Secret Season with Pamela Peirce Library | Parks & Recreation Building, Council Chambers Room, 901 Civic Campus Way, SSF When Pam Peirce created a plan for planting a year-round food garden, she realized that gardeners often miss one of the resulting four seasons—January through March. She named it “The Secret Season.” It’s a time in which rain will supplement or replace your watering efforts and when pests are least active. The resulting harvests will give you delicious garden produce long before your summer harvest is underway. Pam will show you what to plant, how to avoid having to garden on cold, rainy days, and special tips for the best use of our region’s Secret Season. Pam is the author of Golden Gate Gardening, newly updated for its 30th Anniversary Edition. She is a San Francisco gardener, writer, photographer, and lecturer who taught horticulture at City College of San Francisco for nearly 30 years. Her gardening column ran in the SF Chronicle from 2006-2023. Her website, pampeirce.com, links to her blog. 36 City of South San Francisco Legislation Text P.O.
