RESOLUTION NO. 84-2008
CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION
MANAGEMENT AND INSPECTION SERVICES CONTRACT
FOR THE EAST OF 101 SEWER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
TO MENDOZA & ASSOCIATES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
WHEREAS, on June 10 and June 14, 2008, staff advertised the Notice Inviting Sealed
Bids for the East of 101 Sewer Inlprovelnents Project ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, this Project is part of the Genentech Master Plan and largely funded by
Genentech, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, on May 9, 2007, the City Council awarded a prior Construction
Managelnent Services Contract to Mendoza & Associates ("Mendoza") for the Punlp Station No.
4 portion of the East of 101 Proj ect, which is pmi of the Genentech Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, Mendoza's construction nlanagenlent services for the Punlp Station No. 4
Proj ect was satisfactory; and
WHEREAS, staff recolnlnends awarding Mendoza a Construction Management Services
Contract for the CUlTent Project on the basis of Mendoza's delnonstrated cOlnpetence and on
staffs belief that Mendoza has the professional qualifications necessary for the satisfactory
perfonllance of the services required; and
WHEREAS, this Project is included in the City of South San Francisco's 2007-2008 CIP
and c0111prises one of the five projects funded by Genentech, Inc. with an upfront paYlnent of
$8.4 nlillion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the Council hereby awards the Construction Managelnent and Inspection Services
Contract for the East of 101 Sewer I1nprovelnents Project to Mendoza & Associates in an
anlount not to exceed $419,498, conditioned on Mendoza & Associates' tinlely execution of the
project contract and sublnission of all required doclllnents, including but not limited to, executed
bonds, certificates of insurance and endorselnents in accordance with project bid documents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
Agreelnent on behalf of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, subject to approval
as to fonn by the City Attonley.

I hereby celiify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular lneeting held on the 23rd day of
July 2008 by the following vote:
