HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.19.25 - Equity and Public Safety Commission Meeting Minutes CALL TO ORDER Chair Hobson-Coard called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. ROLL CALL Chair Hobson-Coard, present Vice Chair Sanders, present Commissioner Cansino, absent Commissioner Harrison, present Commissioner Junio, present Commissioner Rodriguez, present Commissioner Yee, present, arrived at 6:49 p.m. Commissioner Bedigian, present AGENDA REVIEW None. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM STAFF 1. Commissioners will be updated on the Parks and Recreation Department’s Child Care Program Enrollment Capacities (Angela Duldulao, Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation) Deputy Director Duldulao presented the Child Care Program Update. Director Mediati offered clarification and provided additional information based on the discussion from last month’s Commission meeting. Staff responded to inquiries from Commissioners. 2. Devin Stenhouse, DEI Officer DEI Officer Stenhouse shared an upcoming event: San Mateo County Pride Celebration. He invited Commissioners to join the South San Francisco parade contingent. PUBLIC COMMENTS None. MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION MINUTES REGULAR MEETING COMMISSION ON EQUITY AND PUBLIC SAFETY CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO MONDAY, May 19, 2025 6:00 PM City Hall: City Manager's Conference Room 400 Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, CA 94080 REGULAR COMMISSION ON EQUITY AND PUBLIC SAFETY MEETING APRIL 21, 2025 MINUTES PAGE 2 1. Motion to approve minutes from the April 21, 2025 Commission on Equity and Public Safety meeting. (Devin Stenhouse, DEI Officer) Motion – Vice Chair Sanders /Second – Commissioner Rodriguez: To approve minutes from the April 21, 2025 Commission meeting, by roll call vote: AYES: Commissioner Bedigian, Chair Hobson-Coard, Commissioner Yee, Vice Chair Sanders, Commissioner Rodriguez, Commissioner Harrison, Commissioner Junio; NAYS: None; ABSENT: Commissioner Cansino; ABSTAIN: None. ITEMS FROM BOARD MEMBERS, COMMISSIONERS, COMMITTEE MEMBERS 1. The Commission will be updated by the FlashVote Ad Hoc committee on the status of a potential FlashVote survey from the Commission to the public (FlashVote Ad Hoc Committee) Commissioner Yee provided a recap of where the discussion left off and what the goals are. The Ad Hoc Committee will plan to have a survey completed prior to the next Commission meeting. They will ask Kevin Lyons (FlashVote CEO) to join the next meeting to discuss the survey results if he is available. 2. Public Safety Town Hall. (Commissioner Yee) Officer Stenhouse will request someone from Police to attend the next Commission meeting to discuss recent incidents. Commissioner Bedigian expressed interest in having a discussion on this topic at the next meeting regardless of whether a representative from the Police Department can attend. 3. Every Kid Deserves A Bike. (Vice Chair Sanders) Officer Stenhouse provided an update on the program. 4. Retreat. (Devin Stenhouse, DEI Officer) Officer Stenhouse reminded the group that the annual retreat will be coming up and asked Commissioners to start thinking about it. 5. Summer schedule. (Commissioner Bedigian) Commissioner Bedigian asked Commissioners to be prepared to discuss possible changes to the Commission meeting schedule for the summer. 6. Invitation to band performance.
