CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF STOP
SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF "A" STREET AND SECOND
STREET
WHEREAS, staff received a request for a four-way stop sign installation at the
intersection of "A" Street and Second Street; and
WHEREAS, in May 1989, the City Council adopted a policy that directed the
Engineering Staff to consider the collection of a petition (by resident) for stop signs to be
installed at intersections on minor/local residential streets; and
WHEREAS, the policy indicates that the majority of residents living within a 300-foot
radius of the intersection must agree to the stop installation and therefore, sign the petition; and
WHEREAS, staff requested that the resident take-up a petition and collect the signatures
of 69 residents who live within the 300-foot radius of the subject intersection; and
WHEREAS, of the required 69 signatures, the resident was successful in collecting 65
signatures; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends installation of a mulit-way stop at the intersection of "A"
Street and Second Street; and
WHEREAS, no additional funding would be necessary to install the stop sign at this
location; and
WHEREAS, the stop signs and poles are in stock with the Street Maintenance Division
and the time used to install the signs and pavement marking would be charged to general street
maintenance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes the installation of stop signs at the intersection
of "A" Street and Second Street.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 12
day of July 2000 by the following vote:
AYES:
Councilmembers Pedro Gonzalez, Eugene R. Mullin, and John r. Penna, Mayor
Pro Tem Joseph A. Fernekes and Mayor Karyl Matsumoto
