CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SEWER CONNECTION FEES
EFFECTIVE FOR 2000 THROUGH 2010 AND AMENDING THE
MASTER FEE SCHEDULE TO INCLUDE THE FEES
WHEREAS, by Chapter 14.12 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code the City
Council is authorized to establish sewer connection fees; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has given notice and on September 27, 2000, held a public
hearing as required by law on the subject sewer connection fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this resolution take effect upon its
adoption by two-thirds vote of all members of the City Council and that the fees so established
shall be collected by the Chief Building Official of the Superintendent of the Water Quality
Control Plant.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a Regular meeting held on the 27th
day of September ,2000 by the following vote:

SEWER CONNECTION FEES
A sewer connection fee shall be paid by the user or parcel owner for connection to a public sanitary sewer at the
time the building permit is issued, or if no building permit is necessary, prior to the time the connection is
operational, or in accordance with a schedule of payments established by the Director of Public Works. When a
change in use from residential to commercial or institutional occurs, the difference in connection charges shall be
paid. "Equivalent dwelling unit CEDU)" is the amount and strength of sewage equivalent to that discharged by a
single-family residence. By definition a single -family residence is one EDU. An apartment or duplex with two
dwelling units would be two EDU, etc.
Sewer connection fees shall be determined for all class of user in accordance with the following schedule:

or the minimum fee, which ever is the larger
the number of EDU = (0.00359 x Q) + (0.388 x BOD) + (0.463 x TSS)
Q is the gallons per day of sewage to be discharged,
BOD is the pounds per day of biochemical oxygen demand to be discharged,
TSS is the pounds per day of total suspended solids to be discharged.
