HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 01-2009RESOLUTION NO. 01-2009 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $268,718 FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY TO PURCHASE SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS AND EQUIPMENT AND AMENDING THE 2008- 09 OPERATING BUDGET WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $268,718.00 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to purchase self-contained breathing apparatus and equipment; and WHEREAS, the grant represents 80% of the total funding for the self-contained breathing apparatus and equipment; and WHEREAS, FEMA regulations require the City to pay the remaining 20% cost of $53,744.00, and this amount will come from Fire Department salary savings in the 2008-09 budget (10-11710-4740). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby: 1. Accepts a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the amount of $268,718.00 and appropriates the same to the Fire Department budget for the purchase self- contained breathing apparatus and equipment. 2. Amends the 2008-09 operating budget to reflect the budgeting allocations. * * * ~: ~ I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 14th day of January, 2009 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Pedro Gonzalez, Richard A.
