CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
1999-2000 OPERATING BUDGET (No. 00-6) TO INCLUDE
THE $132,825.63 THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL
RECEIVE FROM THE STATE UNDER THE SUPPLEMENTAL
LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND (SLESF) PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 3229 required that $100 million of the State's 1996-97
budget, would be appropriated to create a new subvention to augment local law enforcement
efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department used the initial SLESF allotment money to hire two
officers, to purchase all-terrain bicycles and related safety equipment, to train the officers in
special patrol techniques and to defray overtime costs associated with these special patrols; and
WHEREAS, the Department intends to continue using the SLESF funds to staff the two
officer positions, to strengthen the bicycle patrol program, to acquire additional communication
and safety equipment, and to defray overtime costs in order to sustain these special enforcement
programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby approves an amendment to the 1999-2000 Operating
Budget (No. 00-6) to include the $132,825.63 the Police Department will receive from the State
under the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF) Program.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a re.qul ar meeting held on the 27th
_ day of October' ,1999 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers JosePh A. Fernekes, Euoene R. Mullin and John
Mayor Pro Tem Matsumoto and Mayor James L. Datzman
