HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 145-1999RESOLUTION NO. 145-99 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING TAXICAB RATES WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Sections 16501 and 21100 permit the City to license and regulate the operation of vehicles for hire and taxi drivers; and WHEREAS, South San Francisco Municipal Code Chapter 6.72 sets forth a comprehensive scheme for the licensing and regulation of such activities. WHEREAS, the Finance Director has reviewed several years of Peninsula Yellow Company's financial statements and has determined the rate increase is appropriate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that, effective December 10, 1999, the taxicab rate schedule shall be as follows: Taxicab Rate Schedule (a) The rates fixed or charged or collected by the owner or driver of any taxicab, except for trips to or from points outside of the city where the charge is fixed on a trip basis, shall not exceed the following: (1) For the first one-eighth mile or fraction thereof, two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50). (2) For each additional one-eighth mile or fraction thereof, twenty seven and one half cents ($0.275). (b) The foregoing charges shall apply collectively to any number of passengers up to, but not in excess of, five, where the point of destination for all of the passengers is the same. For each passenger in excess of five, the foregoing charges may be increased by no more than ten percent. (c) When transporting passengers whose points of destination are different, the meter shall be turned back to the "for hire" position each time a passenger is discharged and a fare collected. (d) For waiting, one dollar and twenty cents ($1.20) for each three (3) minutes or fraction thereof after the first five (5) minutes. (e) (f) For each piece of luggage in excess of two (2) average size traveling bags, or their equivalent in size, twenty-five cents ($.25), for each trunk, fifty cents ($.50). In case any taxicab or rent car becomes disabled or breaks down, while conveying passengers for hire, the time of stoppage shall be deducted from the time charged. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regul ar meeting held on the 10 day of November ,1999 by the following vote: AYES: Joseph A.
