CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSMISSION OF
REFERENDUM PETITION AND BALLOT QUESTION TO COUNTY
CLERK FOR INCLUSION ON THE MARCH 7, 2000 GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of South San Francisco approved a Resolution
adopting the South San Francisco General Plan Update GP-99-61 (Resolution No. 136-99);
WHEREAS, a Referendum Petition protesting the adoption a portion of the General Plan
approved by Resolution No. 136-99 was filed pursuant to Elections Code Section 9241;
WHEREAS, the Elections Official determined that the Referendum Petition contains
2,383 valid signatures which is more than the required number of signatures (2,298) and has
certified the results as required by Elections Code Sections 9239 and 9240;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Elections Code Section 9241, the City Council may submit to
the voters the Referendum Petition, attached and incorporated by reference as Exhibit "A" at the
next regular municipal election; and
WHEREAS, the next regular municipal election will be held on March 7, 2000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it hereby authorizes the City Clerk to transmit the Referendum Petition attached
hereto as Exhibit "A" to the County Clerk for inclusion on the March 7, 2000 election. The City
Council further directs the City Attorney to prepare and submit to the County Clerk a ballot
question pursuant to Elections Code Section 13120 and an Impartial Analysis pursuant to
Elections Code section 9280.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
that it hereby adopts the provisions of California Elections Code Section 9285 in order to
authorize the submission of rebuttal arguments at certain municipal elections.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regul ar meeting held on the
8th day of December , 1999 by the following vote:

Mayor Pro Tem Fernekes and
NOES: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
ABSENT: None.
