HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 50-2009RESOLUTION NO. 50-2009 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT NORTH COAST DINERS FOR THE SUBMARINE OUTFACE DIFFUSER PORT CLEANING PROJECT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $25,846. WHEREAS, the Water Quality Control Plant (WQCP) discharges the treated effluent from a pipeline which extends from Point San Bruno into the San Francisco Bay over 1 mile from the shoreline; and WHEREAS, in 2007, an underwater investigation, performed by Underwater Resources, Inc., discovered that the end gate of the outfall pipe was disconnected and that two, 12 foot long sections of pipe, had become disconnected from the main section of the diffusing portion of the outfall pipe; and WHEREAS, the Submarine Outfall Diffuser Port Cleaning Project consists of the removal of deposits within the vicinity of the 102 three-inch diameter diffuser ports. The project will also remove the encrustation within the diameter of the diffuser ports on the 60-inch outfall pipe; and WHEREAS, this project was advertised and on May 28, 2009, staff received four (4) construction bids; and WHEREAS, North Coast Divers of Petaluma, California was the lowest responsible bidder; and WHEREAS, staff recommE;nds awarding the construction contracts to North Coast Divers of Petaluma, California for the Submarine Outfall Diffuser Port Cleaning Project; and WHEREAS, the project is included in the City of South San Francisco's 2008-2009 Capital Improvement Program (ClP). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby awards the construction contract to North Coast Divers of Petaluma, California in an amount not to exceed $25,846 for the Submarine Outfall Repair Project conditioned on North Coast Divers' timely execution of the Project contract and submission of all required documents, including but not limited to executed bonds, certificates of insurance, and endorsements, in accordance with the Project documents.
