CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AWARDING THE CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT TO GA_LLAGHER & BURK, INC. FOR THE EAST
GRAND AVENUE RESURFACING PROJECT IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $680,410
WHEREAS, the Caltrans Department of Local Assistance (DLAE) determined that the
East Grand Avenue Resurfacing Project ("Project") qualifies for American Reinvestment and
Recovery Act (ARRA) funding in the amount of $1,001,000; and
WHEREAS, staff advertised the Project for bids and on June 23, 2009, received ten (10)
bids in response; and
WHEREAS, Gallagher & Burk, Inc of Oakland, California was the lowest responsible
bidder; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends awarding the Project contract to Gallagher & Burk, Inc.,
in the amount of $680,410; and
WHEREAS, staff will utilize $816,410 of ARRA funds and $51,000 of Prop 1B funds for
the Project; and
WHEREAS, this Project is included in the City of South San Francisco's 2009-2010
Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and sufficient funds have been allocated to cover the
Project cost.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco hereby awards the construction contract for the East Grand Avenue Resurfacing
Project to Gallagher & Burk, Inc. of Oakland, California, in an amount not to exceed $680,410,
conditioned on Gallagher & Burk's timely execution of the Project contract and submission of all
required documents, including but not limited to executed bonds, certificates of insurance, and
endorsements, in accordance with the Project documents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
documents on behalf of the City Council.

July, 2009 by the following vote:
