HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 26-2000RESOLUTION NO. 26-2000 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING THE ELECTION RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF MARCH 7, 2000 WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election consolidated with the Presidential Primary Election was held in and throughout the City of South San Francisco on the '7th day of March, 2000, for the purpose of voters to vote on a Referendum against Resolution No. 136-99 adopting the South San Francisco General Plan Update GP-99-61; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has duly presented to the City Council of the City of South San Francisco all the returns of the votes cast at said Special Municipal Election; and WHEREAS, said City Council has inspected and examined all said returns; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of said City that said Council finds as follows: That there were twenty three thousand, one hundred forty one (23,141) registered voters in the City of South San Francisco and that Twelve thousand, nine hundred fifty-six (12,956) votes were cast in the City of South San Francisco: (a) Ballot measure, Measure B: "Shall portions of South San Francisco General Plan Section 3.4 which establish permissible land uses including a pedestrian oriented center, regional commercial including big-box retail, mixed use development and pedestrian connection between El Camino Real and Mission Road on land adjacent to and near the proposed BART station all as set forth in Resolution 136-99, specifically Guiding Policy 3.4-G.3 and Implementing Policies 3.4-1-3 through 3.4-1-11, be adopted?" RESULTS OF SAID GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION 2. MEASURE B (a) That the record of votes cast as said General Municipal Election in favor of Measure B and against Measure B as shown by the official count at each of the several precincts established throughout said City by said City Council for the purpose of conducting said Election is as shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto, the same being a tabulation of the votes by precincts. (b) That the votes cast at said General Municipal Election for and against Measure B by absentee ballot as shown by the official count and included in the totals set forth in Exhibit "A" are as follows: Yes 2743 No 1434 (c) That the totals including the absentee ballots of the votes cast at said General Municipal Election for and against Measure B as shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto, are as follow: Yes 7744 No 4514 o That the City Council of said City hereby declares: that Measure B was approved at said Special Municipal Election. BE ~ FURTHER RESOLVED: The City Clerk of said City shall, and she is hereby ordered to, enter into said City's official records and that Resolution No. 136-99 adopting the South San Francisco General Plan update GP 99-61 was approved by 59.8% of the voters voting thereon and that such resolution shall be enacted in the City. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a Regular meeting held on the 12th day of April, 2000 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers James L. Datzman, Eugene R. Mullin, and John R. Penna, Mayor Pro Tern Joseph A. Femekes and Mayor Karyl Matsumoto NOES: None. ABSTAIN: None. ABSENT: None. ATTEST: C:\My Documents\RESO\measureb.rcs.doc CERTIFICATE OF CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICER In the Matter of the CANVASS OF VOTES CAST ) at the CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ) SPECIAL ELECTION held on March 7, 2000 ) I, WARREN SLOCUM, Chief Elections Officer of the County of San Mateo, State of California hereby certify; THAT an election was held within the boundaries of the CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO on Tuesday, March 7, 2000, for the purpose of submitting MEASURE B to the qualified electors and; I caused to have processed and recorded the votes from the canvass of all ballots cast at said election within the boundaries of the CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO. I HEREBY FURTHER CERTIFY that the record of votes cast at said election are set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth at length.
