HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 48-2000 RESOLUTION NO. 48-2000 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AUTHORIZING WITHDRAWAL FROM THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING THE MULTI-£ITY TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY AND AUTHORIZING MEMBERSHIP IN THE PENINSULA TRAFFIC CONGESTION RELIEF ALLIANCE AND EXECUTION OF THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING THE ALLIANCE WHEREAS, the Inter-City Transportation Systems Management Authority (ITSMA) and the Multi-City Transportation Systems Management Authority (MTSMA) are joint powers agencies that were formed a decade ago to assist the public and private sector in achieving traffic congestion relief through the implementation of transportation demand management programs; and WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco has been a member of MTSMA; and WHEREAS, the members of ITSMA and MTSMA desire to withdraw from and terminate the joint powers agreements establishing these agencies and to participate in a new joint powers authority that will expand and improve transportation demand management programs on a countywide basis; and WHEREAS, the South San Francisco City Council supports continued efforts to relieve traffic congestion in the City and the region and therefore desires to become a member of the new countywide agency, the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby authorizes the following actions: o Withdrawal of its membership from the Joint Powers Agreement Establishing the MTSMA; and Upon the termination of MTSMA, the transfer of any remaining assets of that agency, all of which are of nominal value, to the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance; and Membership and participation in the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance; and 780388.1 Execution of the Joint Powers Agreement Establishing the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance by the Mayor with direction to the City Clerk to attest to said agreement. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a Regular meeting held on the day of May ,2000 by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSTAIN: ABSENT: Councilman Eugene R.
