COMMUTE SURVEY SUMMARY BRITANNIA MODULAR LABS I (ALLERTON) Dear Ms. Kalkin: We are pleased to submit a summary of the 2009 Britannia Modular Labs I Employee Commute Survey results. This annual summary report meets the monitoring and reporting requirements as specified in the June 2007 city-approved Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Plan. During the two weeks of September 28 through October. 9, 2009,. the Britannia Modular Labs I Commute Program conducted its second annual. commute survey encompassing 80 employees throughout the project site. The survey response rate was 45 percent. The purpose of tree Britannia Modular Labs I commute survey is to provide documentation of TDM accomplishments and meet the City of South San Francisco' reporting requirements: Survey results :provide a snapshot of current alternative mode- use levels and activities. It should be noted that during 2009 there were significant economic issues that impacted employers, employees, and use of commuter program. Economic constraints also impacted other available resources such as commuter programs and support from the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance and the 511 Regional Rideshare Program.. Kalkin December 31, .2009 Page 2 of 3 Highlights of the survey results include: . - Alternative transportation mode-use estimate. - 20'.0. percent - Percentage of single occupant vehicle (SOV) ;respondents who would consider using an alternative commute mode; - 85.2 percent Arriving commuters outside peak morning hours - 22.2 percent - Departing. commuters outside peak evening hours - 2.8 percent The Britannia Modular Labs I project is required to achieve a.28 percentalternative transportation mode-use rate. according to the 2007 TDM Plan: Using the City of South San Francisco.'s conservative methodology, non-survey participants were counted as . single-occupant vehicle: (SOV) drivers. Utilizing this methodology, the Britannia . Modular.Labs T.project achieved a 20:0 percent alternative transportation mode-use rate. The proactive efforts of the. Britannia Modular Labs I Commute Program, in tandem with the ongoing development of individual tenant-employer programs, will continue .to grow the alternative commute mode usage. rate in the coming years. Please note that the TDM efforts for the. Britannia Modular Labs I project were achieved in spite of a challenging economic environment, free on-site parking, and a complete lack of local transit (SamTrans) service. It should also be noted that Caltrain does not provide express Baby Bullet commuter service to the South.Sara: Francisco Station.... " ' The commute survey data for 2009 and.estim~tes for 201Q-were also assessed to determine fine. initial carbon reduction benefits of the Britannia Modular Labs I Commute Program. The 2010 TDM targets goals for Britannia Modular Labs I are estimated to further reduce carbons of 0.20 tons per. day and approximately 47 tons per year. As shown below, this reflects a 21 percent benefit from. carbon reductions estimated for 2010. . EMISSIONS Carbon Emissions.
