San Francisco, CA 94083 RE: 2007 EMPLOYEE COMMUTE SURVEY -BRITANNIA OYSTER POINT SUMMARY Dear Ms: Kalkin: We are pleased to submit a summary of the 2007 Britannia Oyster Point Employee Commute Survey results. This summary meets the TDM monitoring and reporting .requirements as specified in the 2000 Bay West Cove TDM Plan.. During- the weeks of October 8, .through October 19, 2007, the Britannia Oyster Point Commute Program conducted a .survey encompassing 766 employees throughout the campus. .This survey. summary .reflects. responses for all campus employees- (three tenant employers). The. purpose of the Britannia Oyster Point survey was to provide- annual documentation of TDM.- accomplishments and meet he City of South San Francisco's reporting requirements. In addition, .survey results provide a snapshot of current alternative mode-use levels. Highlights of the survey results include: - .Survey response rate - 71 - Alternative mode-use range - 31% to 43% - Single occupant vehicle (SOV) respondents who would consider using. an ' alternative occasionally - 66%° - Arriving commuter outside peak morning hours -17.2% - Departing commuters outside peak evening hours - 28.7% HDR ~ Th• Hoyt Company 660 J Street (hone: (916) 448-2440 HDR Englnertring, Inc. Kalkin November 29, 2007 Page 2 of 2 Using survey .methodology that is used by the Alliance; the Britannia Oyster Poinfi project has achieved the. required 35% alternative mode-use goal. "However, the City requires the Britannia Oyster Point project to use the .Bay West Cove methodology which dictates that non-survey participants be counted as SOV drivers and consequently reflects an alternative mode-use rate of 31:15%. ' The aggregate efforts of the Britannia Oyster Point commute program in tandem with the individual tenant-employers. programs will .continue to maintain and exceed the alternative 35 % commute mode usage goal" as calculated using the Alliance methodology. Two of the largest. employers ,(Rigel and Amgen) offer significant . employee transit and commuter subsidies and benefits (including carpoolers, bicyclist and pedestrians). A copy of the 2007 survey results summary and graphics.are enclosed for your review: Please contact me at (916j 448-2440, or at [email protected], should you have any questions regarding this report.
