CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT THE BAY AREA
COUNCIL BLUE RIBBON TASK FORCE AND ALL INTERESTED
PERSONS AND ORGANIZATIONS TAKE REASONABLE
ACTIONS TO BRING WATER TRANSIT SERVICES TO OYSTER
POINT MARINA PARK
WHEREAS, the California State Senate has directed the Bay Area Council and Bay Area
Economic Forum to create a blue Ribbon Task Force to form a regional action plan for water transit on San
Francisco Bay for the 21st Century; and
WHEREAS, said Task Force has been meeting since April and will issue a final report in March
of 1999; and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco and San Mateo County Harbor District established a
fact-finding panel comprised of business, government and community leaders from the North County to
gauge the degree of interest in water transit services emanating to and from Oyster Point Marina Park in
South San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, that panel concluded overwhelmingly that the significant job growth in the North
County justifies this alternative mode of commute transportation; and
WHEREAS, that Panel also developed demographics showing the potential for thousands of water
transit commuters to and from Oyster Point Marina Park; and
WHEREAS, the realization of water transit services at Oyster Point Marina Park can benefit all
cities of Northern San Mateo County by reducing the number of commute hour vehicles on our congested
freeways, highways and roadways.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of South San Francisco
enthusiastically endorses water transit services at Oyster Point Marina, and hereby strongly recommends
that the Bay Area Council Blue Ribbon Task Force take the actions necessary to make this reality.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
encourages the City/Council Association of Governments, San Mateo County Board of
Supervisors, Sam Trans, Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and all organizations,

Mateo County to work together with the Bay Area Council Blue Ribbon Task Force, the City of
South San Francisco and the San Mateo County Harbor District to take the reasonable actions
