CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AN INCREASE OF 3.06% IN REFUSE
COLLECTION RATES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 1999 AS SUBMITTED
BY THE SCAVENGER COMPANY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
WHEREAS, the City Council approved a new franchise agreement with the Scavenger
Company of South San Francisco on July 9, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the consumer price index (CPI) increase between March 1, 1997 and
February 28, 1999 is to be used to calculate the second refuse collection rate increase under the
Franchise Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the increase over that time period is 6.10 points or 3.82% as shown in
Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, using an 80% factor as stipulated in the franchise agreement, the percent of
increase in refuse collection rates for July 1, 1999 is 3.06% as shown in Exhibit B.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it hereby approves an increase of 3.06% in refuse collection rates effective July 1,
1999 as submitted by the Scavenger Company of South San Francisco.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
Redevelopment Agency of the City of South San Francisco at a Regular meeting held
on the 28th day of April ,1999 by the following vote:
AYES:
Councilmembers Joseph A. Fernekes, and Eugene R. Mullin, Mayor
Pro Tem Earyl Matsumoto, and Mayor James L. Datzman
NOES: None
ABSTAIN: Councilman John R. Penna
