CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION TO OPPOSE CLOSING THE UCSF STANFORD STOREHOUSE AND
LAUNDERING FACILITIES AND THE RESULTING LOSS OF JOBS
WHEREAS, UCSF Stanford has owned and operated a storehouse and laundering facility
in South San Francisco for a number of years; and
WHEREAS, the UCSF Stanford facilities provide many hardworking area and City
residents with good paying jobs; and
WHEREAS, the contractor selected by UCSF Stanford intends to move the work to
Gilroy, California, resulting in a loss of approximately 100 quality jobs in South San Francisco;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been advised by the representative for AFSCME Local
829 that a local buyer is available and willing to purchase the operations from UCSF Stanford,
resulting in a savings to UCSF Stanford and retention of all jobs in South San Francisco.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby opposes the closing and relocation of the UCSF Stanford
storehouse and laundering facilities in South San Francisco and the resulting loss of quality,
good-paying j obs.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a Regu] ar meeting held on the 9th
