HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1-1998RESOLUTION NO. 1-98 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO POLICE ASSOCIATION FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 1.1998 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2000. WHEREAS, the representatives of the City and the South San Francisco Police Association have reached agreement on those wages and conditions of employment, which are to be in effect during the period of January 1, 1998 through December 31, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that the Agreement be approved by the City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that it hereby approves the agreement between the City of South San Francisco Police Association, attached hereto as Exhibits, which set forth those wages and conditions of employment to be in effect during the period of January 1, 1998 through December 31, 2000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is directed to prepare a revised Memorandum of Understanding booklet that will be subject to review and approval as to form by the City Attomey. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a requl ar meeting held on the 14th day of danuary ,1998 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers James L. Reduce pay steps for the Police Clerks, Senior Police Clerks, Parking Enforcement Officer, Police Service Technician, and Property Evidence Technician fi.om 11 to five. 3. Provide longevity pay for sworn personnel only of 1.5% after the 15th year and an additional 1% at~er the 20th year of service. 4. Provide education incentives of 2.5% each for sworn personnel with an AA or Bachelor's degree. 5. Increase uniform allowance by an additional amount of $40 in 1998, $50 in 1999, and $60 in 2000. 6. Except Police Clerks and Senior Police Clerks, provide vests for all South San Francisco Police Association new employees in the first year of the agreement; institute a vest replacement program, with the City providing the vests and a mandatory wearing policy in the second year of the agreement., The vest wearing and replacement policies will be developed jointly by the Association and the Chief of Police. 7. Develop a light-duty policy for non-sworn employees, incorporating that light-duty work may be outside of the unit. 8. Incorporate previously agreed-upon language into this MOU revision. 9. Pay School Liaison Officer position an additional 5% compensation, which is consistent with other special assignment positions. 10. Clarify language in Education Incentive, Bilingual Pay, Light-duty Work, Emergency Family Leave, Uniform Reimbursement, and Absence Notification to reflect current practices.
