CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE 1997-98
OPERATING BUDGET ( NO. 98-6) TO ADD $54,649 THE DEPARTMENT
WILL RECEIVE FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF
JUSTICE~ BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE
WHEREAS, the Omnibus FY 1996 Appropriations Act, ( Public Law 104-134), authorized the
Director of the Bureau of Justice assistance (BJA) to make funds available to units of local government
under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program ( LLEBG); and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program is to reduce crime
and improve public safety; and
WHEREAS, use of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program funds are precise and
jurisdictions who are awarded the funds must meet a 10% Matching Funds Requirement; and
WHEREAS, there is no General Fund obligation; the matching funds will be transferred from an
existing department budget account.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it hereby approves an amendment to the 1997-98 Operating Budget (No. 98-6) $54,649 the
Police Department will receive from the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance.

Council of the City of South San Francisco at a specJ al meeting held on the 17th day of
