CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SEWER CONNECTION
FEES EFFECTIVE FY 1996-97 AND AMENDING THE
MASTER FEE SCHEDULE TO INCLUDE THE FEES
WHEREAS, by Chapter 14.12 of the South San Francisco Municipal
Code the City Council is authorized to establish sewer connection
fees; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has given notice and on July 10,
1996, held a public hearing as required by law on the subject sewer
connection fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of South San Francisco that it hereby adopts the schedule of fees
set forth in the attached Exhibit "A" and hereby amends the city's
Master Fee Schedule to include the fees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall take effect
upon its adoption by two-thirds vote of all members of the City
Council and that the fees so established shall be collected by the
Chief Building Inspector or the Superintendent of the Water Quality
Control Plant.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly
introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 24th day of
July , 1996 by the following vote:

EXHIBIT A TO RESOLUTION NO. 121-96
SEWER CONNECTION FEES
A sewer connection fee shall be paid by the user or parcel owner for connection to a public
sanitary sewer at the time the building permit is issued, or if no building permit is neces~,
prior to the time the connection is operational. When a change in use from residential to
commercial or institutional occurs, the difference in connection charges shall be paid.
'Equivalent dwelling unit(EDU)' is the amount and strength of sewage equivalent to that
discharged by a single-family residence.
Sewer connection fee shall be determined for each class of user in accordance with the following
schedule:
Residential
Single-family dwellings
$860 for each dwelling.
Multi-family dwellings such as
duplexes, fiats, apartments, auto
courts, and similar classes of users.
$860 for each dwelling unit.
Institutional
Schools, hospitals, colleges, cemeteries,
rest homes, clubs, lodges, and similar
classes of users.
$860 minimum, or
$860 for each EDU
Commercial
Legal, financial, real estate, insurance
offices, building warehouses, hotels,
restaurants, stores, and similar classes
of users.
$860 minimum, or
$860 for each EDU
Industrial
Manufacturers, processors, producers,
laundries, photo finishers, painting
services, packagers, electrical services,
and similar classes of users.
$860 minimum, or
$860 for each EDU
where,
the number of EDU = (0.00354 x Q) + (0.467 x BOD) + (0.394 x TSS)
Q is the gallons per day of sewage to be discharged,
BOD is the pounds per day of biochemical oxygen demand to be discharged,
TSS is the pounds per day of total suspended solids to be discharged.
