CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN
AMENDMENT TO THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
(NO. 95-21) TO INCLUDE THE AMERICAN WITH
DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) FOR UPGRADING OF CITY
BUILDINGS AT A COST OF $432,502 AND
AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN AWARD OF CONTRACT
TO ~GARCIA/WAGNER ASSOCIATES OF SAN FRANCISCO
FOR A FEE NOT TO EXCEED $52,000 FOR THE PROJECT
AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISING FOR CONSTRUCTION BIDS
AT COMPLETION OF THE DESIGN
WHEREAS, the American With Disabilities Act (ADA) mandated
that State and local governments conduct self-evaluations of
facilities, programs and activities to determine level of
accessibility; and
WHEREAS, the findings were to be included in a Transition Plan
which identifies access barriers and provides information on when
and how the barriers will be removed or modified; and
WHEREAS, if structural modifications are required for
program/facility accessibility, the work must be completed by July
26, 1995; and
WHEREAS, funding for the project will come from the Community
Development Block Grant Fund and a sum of $432,502 has been
authorized by the Redevelopment Agency for this work, a portion of
which will be used by City forces for their work; and
WHEREAS, the balance will be used to design and build as many
projects as possible; and
WHEREAS, the firm of Garcia/Wagner Associates of San Francisco
has been selected for a fee not to exceed $52,000 to prepare plans,
specifications and cost estimates for upgrading several City
buildings to comply with the American With Disabilities Act (ADA)
for designing several new facilities; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of South San Francisco that:
1. It hereby authorizes and approves amendment to the 1994-
1995 Capital Improvement Program (CIP-21) in the amount of $432,502
to upgrade City buildings in compliance with the American With
Disabilities Act (ADA).
2. It hereby authorizes and approves award of contract to
Garcia/Wagner Associates of San Francisco in an amount not to
exceed $52,000 to prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates
for upgrading several city buildings in compliance with the
American With Disabilities Act (ADA).
3. It hereby authorizes advertising for construction bids as
soon as the design is completed.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly
introduced and adopted by the City Council of the city of South San
Francisco at a re§u]ar meeting held on the 13th day of
December , 1995 by the following vote:
