CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT TO EXPAND THE
COLMA CREEK FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT
WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors created the
Colma Creek Flood Control Zone within the San Mateo County Flood
Control District to finance channel improvements in Colma Creek;
and
WHEREAS, there has been an express need to expand the Colma
Creek Flood Control Project in order to provide needed flood
control protection in the upper reaches of the creek limited to the
area set forth in the Reimer Report.
WHEREAS, a planning study of future Colma Creek improvements
was authorized, which study would be used as a basis for
considering future improvements in the Colma Creek Channel; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the District would debt
finance approximately $17M that would be repaid from the tax
revenues over a 25-year period; and
WHEREAS, additional projects, as well as the current project
area, will be financed either on a pay as you go basis though debt
financing with existing property tax revenues collected by the
District with no change in the cost to the property owners.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of South San Francisco as follows:
1. The City Council hereby adopts a Resolution of Support to
expand the Colma Creek Flood Control Project, provided that
improvements planned downstream of Oak Avenue occur prior to the
improvements planned upstream of Oak Avenue. The City Council will
reconsider the priority of constructing the improvements if the
improvements planned upstream of Oak Avenue are necessary to
facilitate BART construction.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly
introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco at a r~gular meeting held on the l?th day of
L]uly , 1995 by the following vote:

and Mayor Robert Yee
