A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
CITY COUNCIL CANCELLING THE NOVEMBER 2, 1993
GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND PROVIDING FOR
THE APPOINTMENT OF THE NOMINATED PERSONS
WHEREAS, pursuant to the authority of Elections Code §§23302.5
and 22843.5, the City Council is authorized to cancel a general
municipal election if by 5:00 p.m. on the 88th day prior to the day
fixed for the election all incumbent office holders have filed
nomination papers and the number of persons who have been nominated
does not exceed the number of offices to be filled; and
WHEREAS, as of 5:00 p.m. on August 6, 1993, the 88th day prior
to the November 2, 1993 general municipal election all of the
incumbent office holders of South San Francisco had filed their
nominating papers; and
WHEREAS, all of the signatures on the nominating papers have
been verified; and
WHEREAS, the number of persons nominated does not exceed the
number of offices to be filled; and
WHEREAS, the cancellation of the November 2, 1993 election
will result in monetary savings to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of South San Francisco as follows:
1) The South San Francisco General Municipal Election
scheduled for November 2, 1993 is hereby cancelled.
2) The City Council shall appoint to each office to be
filled the person nominated for such office.
