CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO APPROVING NEGATIVE DECLARATION
92-03 AND ADOPTING SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO'S
SOURCE REDUCTION RECYCLING ELEMENT AND
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE ELEMENT
WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Act
(AB939) requires cities to reduce the amount of solid waste being
disposed of in landfills from their jurisdiction by 25% in 1995 and
by 50% in 2000; and
WHEREAS, the City has prepared the Source Reduction and
Recycling Element (SRRE) and the Household Hazardous Waste Element
(HHWE); and
WHEREAS, these elements describe methods of diverting the
required amounts of solid waste from landfills by the specified
dates; and
WHEREAS, the City has conducted an initial study to determine
if the implementation of the SRRE and HHWE elements would have a
significant impact on the environment; and
WHEREAS, the elements and study were circulated for review and
comment during the month of May; and
WHEREAS, all comments received were adequately addressed; and
WHEREAS, the County, neighboring jurisdictions, and the County
Waste Management Board reviewed the proposed elements and made
comments; and
WHEREAS, the elements were modified to reflect the impact of
the commenting agencies; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the adoption of the
elements will not have any adverse impacts on the environment and
in fact will have a positive and beneficial impact on said
environment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the South San Francisco City
Council as follows:
1. Negative Declaration No. 92-03 is hereby adopted and
approved.
2. The Source Reduction and Recycling Element and Household
Hazardous Waste Element are hereby adopted.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly
introduced and adopte~ by the City Council of the city of South San
Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 24th day of
JAne , 1992 by the following vote:

Councilmembers Jack Drago, Joseph A. Fernekes, Robert Yee,
and Vice Mayor Roberta Cerri Teglia
