CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSU-
ANCE OF A COMMENDATION CERTIFICATE
TO MARIANNE EVANS
WHEREAS, we as citizens, allocate to professional law
enforcement officers the immediate duty of apprehending and
restraining those engaged in acts offensive to law and order,
and
WHEREAS, we as citizens carry a complementary duty to
constructively aid the professional law enforcement officer
in order that he mmy successfully serve the purposes of a
peaceful and law abiding society, and
WHEREAS, MARIANNE EVANS, on February 17, 1965, at the
Bank of America Branch in Buri Buri of South San Francisco,
California did courageously respond to her duty as a citizen
by reporting over the telephone to Joyce Swanson the fact
that a bank robbery was in process and requested that she
obtain assistance from the police, which aided in the imme-
diate apprehension of the bank robbers, without loss of life
or property, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San Fran-
cisco desires to commend her for a courageous response to
duty as a citizen.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco does hereby commend MARIANNE EVANS and author-
izes the Mayor and Chief of Police of said City to issue to
her a Commendation Certificate.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco at a regular
meeting held on the 1st day of March
