AND SPECIFICATIONS, AUTIIORIglNO
TILE WOP~ AND CALLING BIDS FOR
GRAND-LOCUST STORM DRAINAGE
CORRECTION
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco, California~ that
WHEREAS, plans and specifications providing for cer-
tain improvcment work have been submitted, which plans and
specifications are entitled{
Grand-Locust Storm Drainage Correction
and,
WI~R~S, the City Council desires to approve said plans
and specifications, authorize the work and call for sealed
proposals;
NOW, TiIEitEFOP, g, IT I5 ilglIEBY ORDERED that:
1. The plans and specifications hereinbefore named and
identified are hereby approved and the work therein provided
is hereby authorized, and ~aid plans and specifications are
referred to and by thio reference mmde a part hereof tim
once as if recited herein verbatim.
2. Tim City Clerk'of said City is hereby directed to
publish by two (~) consecutive insertions in the "Enter-
prise-Journal", a newspaper published and circulated in said
City, a notice invitin~ sealed proposals or bids for said
work in accordance with the plans and specifications herein-
before named and identified and on file in tho Office of the
City Clerk, tile first of which publication shall be at least
ten (10) days prier to the time fixed for openin§ bids. A
copy of said notice entitled "Notice To Bidders" is attached
hereto and referred to and by this reference m~de a part
hereof as if set forth verbatim herein.
All proposals or bids shall be accompantcd by a cashier's
or certified check, payable to the order of the City of South
San Francisco, in an amount equal to not lees than ten per
cent (IOA) of the bid £i~ure, or by a bond in said amount
dra~ in favor of said City and executed by a corporate
surety. Said check shall be forfeited by bidder, or said
bond shall become payable to said City in case the low-
est responsible bidder (or bidders) depositing the same
does not, within the time sot forth in said plans and
specifications, enter into a contract with said City, the
faithful performance' of which shall be Suaranteed by an
undertaki,s in the amount of one hundred per cent
of the sum bid, said undertakin5 bein§ that of a corporate
surety satisfactory to said City Council, and which con-
tract shall be accompanied by a labor and ~%terials bond
of a corporate surety, also in a sum equal to one hundred
per cent (lOO&) of tho amount of said bid, as required by
the provisions of Title I, Division 5, Chapter 3, of the
Government Code of the State of California. In case of a
forfeiture, as provided for in the preceding sentence, the
defaulting bidder shall be liable to said City for any
additional expense to which it may reasonably be put in
connectio, with obtainin5 full and complete performance of
the particular work of improvement with which this Notice
to Bidders is ooncerned.
3. Bids will be received by the City of South San
Francisco, California, at the Office of tho City Mans§er
of said City, City lI~ll, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco,
California,
at or before the hour of 2 o'clock p.m.
on Tuesda.~ , the Zad day of

said time not being less than ten (10) days from the first
publication of notice, the bids will be publicly opened,
examined and declared at said time and place and award will
thereafter be made by the City Council of said City to the
lowest responsible bidder or bidders, subject, however, to
the rtgl,t of said City Council to reject any and all bids,
which right is hereby reserved.
I hereby certify that the foresoins Resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of
the City of South San Franciaco at a regular
meetin~ held on the _17th day of April , 1967,

NOTICE CALLING FOR BIDS FOR THE FURNISHING OF
MATERIALS FOR, AND THE PERFORIIANCE OF, CERTAIN
PUBLIC WORK AND I~PROVEMRh~ IN THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, TO-WlT~' GRAND-LOCUST
STORM DRAINAGE CORRECTION
NOTICE IS HEHEBY GIVEN that sealed bids for the furnishing
of materials for, and the performance of, the public work herein-
after described will be 'received by the City of South San Francisco~
California, at the office of the City Manager of said city, City
Hall, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California, at or before
the hour of 2 o'clock p.m., on Tuesday ,

sald time and place. Award of contract will thereafter be made by
the City Council of said clty to the lowest responsible bldder or
bldders, subject, however, to the right of sald City Councll to re-
Ject any and all bids, which right is hereby reserved.
The work hereinbefore referred to conslsts of the following:
Remove pavement, base. subzrade material, arch culverts.
sidewalk, curbs and mutters, and insSallinz cement treated
base and asohalt concrete oavinm and constructin~ curb and
~utter. sidewalk, and vallev mutter.
Said work shall include the furnishing and supplying of all
necessary labor and materials.
It is requested that all bids be submitted on both a unit and
group basis because said city reserves the right to make award of
contract on either a unit or group basis.
All said work is to be done at the places and in the particular
locations, and in accordance with the forms, sizes, dimensions, and
materials and'to the lines and grades, and in conformance to the pro-
files, detailed drawings, and specifications therefor which have
heretofore been approved and adopted by said City Council and which
are presently on file in the office of the City Clerk of said city.
Reference is hereby made to said plans, profiles, detailed drawings,
andspecifications for further particulars, copies of which may be
procured from said City Clerk upon the making of a deposit of
TEN DOLLA~ ($'10.00 ) per set, of which sum FIVE
DOt~.~RS ($ 5~00 ) will be refunded upon the return of said plans
and specifications in good condition within SEVEntY-TWO (72) HOURS
after the bid date.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a cashier*s, or
certified, check payable to the order of the City of South San
Francisco, in an amount equal to not less than ten percent (10%) of
the bid figure, or by a bond in said amount drawn in favor of said
City and executed by a corporate surety. Said check shall be for-
feited by bidder, or said bond shall become payable to said City in
case the lowest responsible bidder (or bidders) depositing the same
does not, within the time set-forth in said plans and specifications,
enter into a contract with said City, the faithful performance of
which shall be guaranteed by an undertaking in the amount of one
hundred percent (100%) of the sum bid, said undertaking being that
of a corporate surety satisfactory to said City Council, and which
contract shall be accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a
corporate surety, also in a sum equal to one hundred percent (100%)
of the amount of said bid, as required by the provisions of Title I,
Division 5, Chapter 3, of the Government Code of the State of
California. In case of a forfeiture, as provided for in the pre-
ceding sentence, the defaulting bidder shall be liable to said City
for any additional expense to which it may reasonably be put in
connection with obtaining full and complete performance of the
'particular work of improvement with which this Notice to Bidders
is concerned.

to be paid to all craftsmen and laborers in connection with the
work to be done pursuant to said plans and specifications~which is

rsctly shown, the prevailing Union Scale established for Ban Mateo
County shall apply. .
The rates for legal holidays and overtime work, and the
