HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 122-2011 RESOLUTION NO. 122 -2011 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING (i) SHELTER NETWORK TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO CONTINUUM OF CARE (COC) FOR A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $215,065 IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT A PERMANENT URBAN SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM AND A HOMELESS OUTREACH TEAM IN SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO; AND (ii) PROVISION OF A LETTER OF SUPPORT FROM THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO COMMITTING THE CITY TO PROVIDE HOUSING, CONSISTING OF 18 BEDROOMS, FOR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS WHEREAS, Shelter Network proposes to collaborate with the City of South San Francisco to create a Permanent Urban Supportive Housing Program (SSF -PUSH) and a Homeless Outreach Team (SSF -HOT) (collectively, the "Programs ") to identify and provide health, mental health, and permanent supportive housing services to the chronically homeless and transient population in downtown South San Francisco; WHEREAS, the SSF -PUSH and SSF -HOT programs would be operated in collaboration with the City's police department, economic development department and community based organizations; WHEREAS, Shelter Network proposes to submit an application for funding the programs to the County of San Mateo Continuum of Care (COC), and if selected by COC, to the Department of Housing and Urban Development ( "HUD "); and WHEREAS, in connection with the funding application, the City must provide evidence of its commitment to provide housing consisting of 18 bedrooms for Program participants. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby: 1. Authorizes Shelter Network to submit a grant application to the County of San Mateo Continuum of Care (COC) for a grant in the amount of $215,065 in order to implement a Permanent Urban Supportive Housing Program and a Homeless Outreach Team in South San Francisco. 2. Authorizes the provision of a letter of support from the City of South San Francisco committing the City to provide housing, consisting of 18 bedrooms, for Program participants. 3. Authorizes the City Manager to execute all documents and to take all actions necessary to carry out the intent of this Resolution. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 28 day of September 2011 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez, and Karyl Matsumoto, Vice Mayor Richard A.
