HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 5056-1969RESOLUTION NO. 5056 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION URGING SUPPORT OF SENATE BILL 4 INTRODUCED IN THE 1969 SESSION OF THE STATE LEGISLATURE BY SENATOR H. L. RICHARDSON. WHEREAS, local jurisdictions can no longer enact or enforce local regulations in various fields which the courts of this State have held to have been preempted by State legislation; and WHEREAS, various activities particularly inimical to the health, welfare and morals of the inhabitants of local juris- dictions exist and cannot be regulated at the local level because of said court decisions and are not regulated by State legisla- tion; and WHEREAS, it is essential that State legislation be enacted to assure predictability of the law and to enable local juris- dictions to regulate unwholesome activities which are not regulated by the State; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill' 4 adding Section 9618 to the Government Code introduced in the 1969 session of the State Legislature by Senator H. L. Richardson will assure predictability of the law and return a degree of control to local jurisdiction; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of South San Francisco resolves as follows: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, by these presents, strongly recommends the enactment of Senate Bill 4 and respectfully requests the support of Senator Richard Dolwig, Assemblyman Leo Ryan and Assemblyman Carl Britschgi. Section 2. That the City Clerk be, and is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to our State legislators. -- 1-- I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a on the 3rd day of March following vote: reqular meeting held , 19 69 , by the AYES, COUNCILMEN Frank J.
