CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING' DON' JOHNSON.
WHEREAS, Don Johnson, retired Navy Chief Petty Officer
and a resident of the City of South San Francisco, has for
many years contributed to the welfare of this community, and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his recent activity as a
volunteer operator of a "gateway" Military Affiliate Radio
Station (MARS) processing nearly 5,000 messages from crewmen
aboard the fire stricken aircraft carrier USS~ ENTERPRISE to
their families throughout the United States, and
WHEREAS, because of his concern and outstanding contribu-
tion to the Department of the Navy in the fields of personnel
and internal affairs he has been awarded the Navy's second
highest award given to a civilian, the Navy Meritorious Public
Service Citation, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco desires to commend him therefor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco that said Council does hereby
commend Don Johnson, retired Navy Chief .Petty Officer, for
his contribution to the welfare of the City of South San
Francisco and his concern and contribution to the welfare of
the crewmen of the fire stricken aircraft carrier USS ENTERPRISE
and their families.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the
