CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS
AND SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING
THE WORK AND CALLING BIDS FOR
1970 CORPORATI~N YARD PAVING PROJECT
RESOLVED by the City Coancil of the City of South San
Francisco, California, that
IfHEREAS, plans and specifications providing for cer-
tain improvement work have been submitted, which plans, and
specifications are entitled'
%970 CORPORATION YARD PAVING PROJECT
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve said plans
and specifications, authoriz=_ the work and call for sealed
proposals;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that:
1o The plans and specifications hereinbefore named and
~aentified are hereby approved and the work therein provided
is hereby authorized, and said plans and specifications are
referred to and by this reference made a part hereof the
same as if recited herein verbatim°
2. The Cit~y_ Clerk of s~id City is hereby directed to
publish by two (2) consecutive insertions in the "Enter-
prise-Journal," a newspaper 0ublished and circulated in said
City, a notice inviting seal-=d proposals or bids' for said
work in accordance with the olans and specifications herein-
before named and identified and on file in the Office of the
City Clerk, the first of whi~-h publication shall be at least
ten (10) days prior to the time fixed for opening bids. A
copy of said notice entitled "Notice to Bidders" is attached
hereto and referred to and bM this reference made a part
hereof as if set forth verba~.im herein.
Ail proposals or bids shall be~accompanied by a cashier's
or certified check, payable ~o the order of the City of South
San Francisco, in an amount equal to not less than ten per
cent (10%) of the bid figure, or by a bond in said amount
drawn in favor of said City and executed by a corporate
surety. Said check shall b~_ forfeited by bidder~ or said
bond shall become payable tp said City in case the lowest
responsible bidder (or biddy_rs) depositing the same
doss .not, within the time s~_t forth in said plans and
specifications, enter into a contract with said City, the
faithful performance of which shall be guaranteed by an
undertaking in the amount of one hundred per cent (100%)
of the sum bid, said undertaking being that of a corporate
surety satisfactory to said City Council, and which con-
tract shall be accompanied ~y a labor and materials bond
of a corporate surety, also in a sum equal to one hundred
per cent (100%) of the amount of said bid, as required by
the provisions of Title I, Division 5, Chapterl 3, of the
Government Code of the Stat~_ of California. I~ case of a
forfeiture, as provided for in the preceding sentence, the
defaulting bidder shall be liable to said City for any
additional expense to which it may reasonably be put mn
connection with obtaining f~ll and complete performance of
the particular work of improvement with which this Notice
to Bidders is concerned.
3. Bids will be received by the City of South San
Francisco, California, at the Office of the City Manager
of said City, City Hall, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco,
California,
at or before the hour of
2~00 p.m.
on Tuesday , 'he 24th day of March
19 70
said time not being less than ten (10) days from the first
publication of notice. The bids will be publicly opened,
examined and declared at said time and place and award will
thereafter be made by the City Council of said City to the
lowest responsible bidder o~ bidders, subject, however, to
the right of said City Count. il to reject any and all bids,
which right is hereby reserved.
4. Funds shall be encumbered as set forth on
Exhibit "Ai' attached hereto. ~
I hereby certify that nhe foregoing Resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco at a regular
meeting held on the 2nd day of March' , 19 70,

The work hereinbefore referred to consists of the following:
Remove existin~ asphalt cement concrete and a~gregate base; remove and replace
existin~ header boards; furnish and place new asphalt c~meot con~.r~ h~s~
levelin~ and surfacin~ courses.
ITEMS OF WORK
Item 1 - Remove existin~ asphalt Daving~ and base around the t~rirn~.~r of
existin~ Portl~and cement concrete washin~ pad - _35 sq,u~r~ vards
Item 2 _~-. Rem,ove exis. tin~ asphalt paving, and base around the perimeter of the
existin~ PCC washin~ Dad and at the edges of th~ ~xis~inl~ ~CC
buildin~ floors - 193 ,square yards
Item 3 - Remove existing wood header boards, and replace wi~ new header
boards set to new paving gra6e - 60 lineal feet

Item 4 - Furnish and place 608 tons asphalt c~ment concrete base, levelin~
and surfacing courses.

Said work shall include the furnishing and supplying of all
necessary labor and materials.
It is requested that all bi~s be submitted on both a unit and
group basis because said city reserves the right to make award of
contract on either a unit or group basis.
Ail said work is to be done at the places and in the particular
locations~ and in accordance with the forms~ sizes~ dL~ensions~ and
materials and to the lines and grades~ and 'in conformanco to the
proflles~ detailed drawings~ and specifications therefor which have
heretofore been approved and adored by said City Council and which
are presently on file in the off,ce of the City Clerk o£ said city,
Reference is hereby made to said plans, profiles~ detailed drawings~
and specifications for further particulars~ copies of which may be
procured from said City Clerk upon the making of a deposit of
TEN DOLLARS (5 10.00 ) per set, of which sum FIVE
DOLLARS (3 5.00 ) will be re£unded upon the return of sald
plans and specifications in good condition within SEVERitY-TWO (72)
HOURS after the bid date,

connection with obtaining full a~d complete performance o2 the
particular work of ~mprovement with which this Notice to Bidders
is concerned.

heretofore established the prevailing wage scale for per diem rates
to be paid to all craftsmen and laborers in connection with the
work to be done pursuant to said plans and specifications~ which
