CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND
DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ON APRIL 1'4, 1970.
WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held in and
throughout the City of South San Francisco on the 14th day
of April, 1970, for the election of two (2) members of the
City Council, and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has duly presented to the City
Council of the City of South San Francisco all the returns
of the votes cast at said municipal election, and
WHEREAS, said City Council has inspected and examined
all said returns;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
said City that said Council finds as follows:
That Fifteen Thousand Seven Hundred Forty-two (15,742)
votes were cast in the City of South San Francisco by Eight
Thousand Four Hundred Five (8,405) ballots.
That the names of persons voted for at said general
municipal election are as follows:
(a) As regularly-nominated candidates:
Patrick E. Ahern, Incumbent
Gordon T. Boblitt, Basinessman
William A. Borba, Manufacturer
Terry J. Mirri, Management Trainee
Tony Montoya, Sr. Hydro Designer
"Ed" Edward J. Rickenbacher,
Real Estate Broker
Edward Toby, Businessman
(b) As write-in candidates:
None.

RESULTS OF SAID .~UNICIPAL ELECTION
That the record of the votes cast at said municipal
election in favor of said candidates, as shown by the official
count at each of the several precincts established throughout

said City by said City Council for the purpose of conducting
said election is as shown or. Exhibit "A" attached hereto, the
same being a tabulation of the votes by precincts.
That the votes cast at said general municipal election
in favor of said candidates for the office of City Councilman
by absentee ballot as shown by the official count, and included
in the totals set forth in Exhibit "A", are as follows:
Patrick E. Ahern 28
Gordon T. Boblitt 19
William A. Borba 27
Terry J. Mirri 23
Tony Montoya 4
"Ed" Edward J. Rickenbacher 8
Edward Toby 21
TOTAL
That the totals of the various votes cast at said general
municipal election in favor of the several candidates are as
follows:
(a) For regularly-nominated candidates:

(b) For write-in candidates:

That the City Council of said City hereby declares as
follows:
That Patrick E. Ahern and William A. Borba were duly elected
at said municipal election as members of the City Council of said
City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of said
City shall, and he is hereby ordered to, issue Certificates
of Election as follows:
To Patrick E. Ahern ant William A. Borba as members of
the City Council of said City.

I hereby certify that t.~e foregoing resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco held in accordance with
applicable sections of the Election Code requiring canvass
of returns and issuance of certificates, and further in
accordance with applicable sections of the Government Code
regarding organization of the City Council held this 21st
day of April , 19 70, by the following vote:
