HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 5289-1970 RESOLUTION NO. $289 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION COMMENDING ANDREW ROCCA. WHEREAS, Andrew Rocca hms completed sixteen years of service as City Councilman in the City of South San Francisco, during which time he also served as Mayor of said City, and, not having sought reelection, now retires from said City's service on this 21st day of April, 1970, and WHEREAS, his sound judgment and dedicated participation during that period contributed to the progress of this City, and to the accomplishment of many outstanding projects, includ- ing the Oyster Point Marina, State legislation for adequate pay to City Councilmen, and the preservation of the tax-free municipal bond financing instrument for cities, and WHEREAS, on this occasion we recall his participation in the progress of this City, County and State and also the offices of responsibility in civic affairs, and the fields of industry, finance and government which reflect an image of constructive achievement, and they are: nining engineer; member of American Institute of Mining Engineers; President and principal owner of Calistoga National Bank, June, 1924 to December, 1938; former Mayor of Calistoga; former Clerk, Joint Union High School District, Napa and Sonoma Counties; President of Rotary Club, Calistoga; Manager of Bank of America, South San Francisco, from 1938 until 1955; Chairman of South San Francisco Planning Commission from February 16, 1944, to July 21, 1948; Councilman, South San Francisco, from September 7, 1954, to April 21, 1970.; Mayor of South San Francisco from April, 1959 to April, 1961; charter member and first President of the Rotary Club, South San Francisco; member of the Association of Bay Area Govern- ments, Peninsula Manufacturers' Association, South San Francisco Manufacturers' Association and Water Pollution Control Board of the State of California, and · WHEREAS, the legislatures of higher levels of government would have gained by his membership, local government, fortu- nately, had the exclusive benefit of his direct participation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that this Council does commend Andrew Rocca for his constructive achievement as hereinbefore set forth and does record t~.is Resolution in the official records of the City of South. San Francisco as a tribute to him, while at the same time expressing to him the personal appreciation of each of the members of this Council. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at ~ adjo~trned reqular meeting held on the 215t day of A~ri.! , 1970 , by the following vote: AYES, COUNCILMEN Patrick £.
