CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION SUPPDRTING APPLICATION OF SEA
SCOUT SHIP NO. 17 OF SAN MATE0 ASKING THAT
THE COAST GUARD CUTTER "MORRIS" BE DONATED
TO SAID SEA SCOUT SHIP FOR TRAINING PURPOSES.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that
WHEREAS, Sea Scout Ship No. 17 of San Mateo, a unit of
the Boy Scouts of America, nas asked the United States Coast
Guard to donate to said Sea Scout Ship the Cutter "Morris"
(WMEC-147), which was due to be decommissioned in August,
19 70, and
WHEREAS, Sea Scout Ship No. 17 of San Mateo would use
said ship for the training of high school age boys in the prin-
ciples of seamanship, providing said boys with experience
unique in its character and aimed at developing the high ideals
of self-reliance and courage, and
WHEREAS, it would be for the benefit of all the people
of the County of San Mateo were said ship donated as requested;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that:
1. This City Council supports the request of Sea Scout
Ship No. 17 of San Mateo and urges the United States Coast
Guard to act upon that request affirmatively.
2. The City Clerk shall send certified copies of this
Resolution to the Honorable George Murphy, the Honorable Alan
Cranston and the Honorable Paul N. McCloskey.
