CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING DELAY OF CONSTRUCTION
OF SOUTHERN CROSSING OF SAN FRANCISCO BAY.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that:
WHEREAS~ the California Toll Bridge Authority is con-
sidering construction of a Southern Crossing of San Francisco
Bay extending from India Basin in San Francisco to Alameda;
and
WHEREAS, there is contr.oversy concerning the location
and necessity of said bridge; and
WHEREAS, the cities of Brisbane, Daly City, Pacifica
and South San Francisco have indicated they strongly favor
an alternate location either at Sierra Point or connection with
Route 380; and
WHEREAS, the recently formed Metropolitan Transportation
Committee will study and adopt a regional transportation plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED as
fo llows:
1. This Council OPPOSES the location of the bridge at
the India Basin location.
2. This Council OPPOSES the construction of any bridge
until the impact to ecology is determined.
3. This Council OPPOSES the construction of any bridge
until the Metropolitan Transportation Committee completes
its regional transportation plan.
4. This Council proposes as alternate location either
Sierra Point or connection with Route 380.
5. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the
California Toll Bridge Authority.
